The Brief:

To insert a two storey extension within an existing single storey building and upgrade existing areas - including external works and renewel of all service installations - to create a new children's centre.

The Team:

Architects, Quantity Surveyors, structural and mechanical and electrical engineering consultants together with a team from the local authority client.

Specific challenges:

• The insertion of the steel frame together with its complex curved roof structure demanded precise dimensional co-ordination.
• The sedum covered roof was a feature of the new building.
• The co-ordination of the external wall and roof elements to the curved profile of the roof.
