The Brief:

To upgrade and expand existing facilities at Craven Cottage to meet the demands of expected promotion and the requirements of the football league authorities.

The Team:

Belfry had close liaison with the Architect and structural engineer to solve day to day problems and to help maintain programme requirements.

Specific challenges:

• The majority of the works were carried out during a very intensive period during the end of the football season and the start of the next. All work carried out during the season had to be phased in such a way that the ground was always fit for public use on match days.
• Some elements of the ground are registered as listed buildings. Work on these buildings was carried out after consultation with the local authority to ensure that the work conformed to all aspects of the permitted development.
