More information…
Belfry got in a planing machine to remove the surface of the existing large lay-by down to a depth of 300mm to transform into the new fueling roadway for all of the buses and coaches. We broke out and excavated several large areas of concrete which had been pile caps on the former DHL site.
The external works included a 1000m2 fuel resistant SMA tarmacing roadway and marking out of a parking area for 350+ buses and coaches, installation of water and electrical services to 3No Karcher pressure washer units in various locations , construction of a concrete slab to house 2No 10,000ltr fuel tanks, general concreting, ground works and installation of drainage system for the bus wash areas and coach drop point, installation of a CCTV system and the installation of pedestrian safe walkways. Internal works consisted of the refurbishment of an office area and the construction and installation of data points, including the installation of the data connections and associated electrical services.
Once the Olympics and Paralympics were over, the site had to be reinstated to its original condition and all temporary services removed.
